About us

Founded in 2016, SBIT is the only trade organisation solely representing outbound seasonal travel businesses. We now number over 120 UK travel companies. Our members are seasonal outbound travel businesses who employ UK citizens to work in Europe for winter or summer seasons.

Why SBiT was created

Following the Brexit referendum, many seasonal outbound travel businesses wondered what the future would hold for them. Almost all were SMEs working alone.

As a result, many started to come together to share information in an attempt to help navigate the uncertain waters ahead. Quickly, as more joined in, we realised that there is strength in numbers – not just lobbying in the UK but also Governments and authorities in our main EU destination countries too.

Our aim

Working with both the UK government as well as our EU partners, our aim is to help our members develop their businesses in compliance with local regulatory requirements and also in close partnership with our EU partners - to the benefit of both.

Our lobbying aims to ensure the economic and employment contributions of this sector are recognised by Governments (and the public) on both side of the channel and consequently regulations are as streamlined and straightforward as possible - to deliver growth and prosperity for all.

Our influence

SBiT is now recognised by the French authorities as the official point of contract for the UK ski industry and related business.

We work hard to comment on and make the media aware of issues affecting outbound seasonal business and its significance to the UK economy.

SBiT is part of the Future Travel Coalition which aims to amplify and align the wider UK travel industry’s voice where we have common goal.

Sustainability

As consumers and businesses alike rightly place much more importance on sustainability, SBiT is committed to a sustainable future.

We help members navigate these issues and provide them with valuable resources in order to make real improvements with our practical guides and workshops, signposting of information/resources and sharing best practice.

In our members’ area we provide information on

  • Suppliers with sustainable agendas and programmes

  • Resort recycling information

  • Advice on old uniform/clothing recycling

  • How to make the most of out of date or unused food supplies

“SBiT were fantastic in assisting with the visa process. Davina was an asset to our young seasonaires at the TLS VISA office in London. When I first started doing seasons 12 years ago the most we had to organise was transporting ourselves and our luggage to the Victoria bus station in order to experience a lifetime of fun crammed into just 6 months. Thank you SBiT, you’ve made it possible for the British youngsters to continue doing seasons!”
